WHY

CARA'S
CORNER
The
power went out due to a heat wave and after an interesting evening
of reading by candlelight (hint, the shorter the candle the more
light there is on your page) I woke to find I would not have access
to my computer all day. For several months I have known that I
wanted to specifically set aside time to read the many business
books I have collected It didn't take long for me to locate my
partially read collection and get busy. (In fact they sit by my
reading chair for easy access) I chose to continue working in
Michael Port's Book Yourself Solid, which I highly recommend.
There are thought-provoking exercises to help you make choices
about your business so I started writing. Several ideas will be
incorporated in The
Match Game, Finding the Perfect Business Venue for Your Passion
and Talent and a new idea emerged which I will announce later
this week (after I write the sales pagesee below)
Whether
you want to read for spiritual growth, personal growth, or business
growthread regularly! Schedule the time if you must, but
fit it into your life. I have so many new ideas and realizations
from my unexpected reading day that I feel "powered"
up. Thanks PG&E, I needed that!
Warmly,

WHY
YOU SHOULD WRITE
YOUR SALES PAGE FIRST
Where
do you begin when you have an idea for a new product? With the
sales page. Yup, before you even create the product you need to
know 1) if there is a need for your product and 2) what exact
needs your product will meet.
I
had an idea formulating for a new educational series. I created
a survey that asked questions that would guide me in meeting their
needs. I sent it to those of you in my e-magazine list and discovered
that you wanted to:
- Focus
your passion and talents in a profitable business endeavor
- Learn
to make passive income
- Get
more clients
- Study
alone at your own pace with audio/video/workbook downloads
- Be
a part of an ongoing Master Mind Group
That
seemed like a very clear directive to me. It helped me see how
you wanted to learn and what was most important to you. The survey
helped me focus my product.
The
next thing I did was begin writing my sales page. What benefits
would I offer? What specific needs would I meet? What features
would I offer?
As
I wrote the sales page, I made choices. Yes, I wanted to use the
Moodle forum environment. No, I did not want to create transcripts
of the conference calls. Yes, I wanted to create a workbook rather
than individual handouts. In addition, if I were to do some version
of a Master Mind Group what would that look like? How much time
would it take? Would it be a Membership site with a fee or is
it free with the class? How long would it last? You get the picture,
I had to define my product very clearly before I wrote a single
word.
And
guess what, in writing the sales page I had to decide exactly
what I was going to teach every week! So, my series began to have
an outline. My friend Judy Stewart at www.jstewartdesigns.com
designed the sales page masthead banner for the two classes and
I went to work in DreamWeaver to create words that got people
excited about what they would learn and achieve as we worked together
in these two classes. You can see the results at The
Match Game
A
sales pages makes you price out your offering, think up ways to
bundle things together, find bonus items you can give to add value,
and it makes you set up your shopping cart so you are ready to
receive enrollments and/or sales.
A
sales page is magic. It is like waving a wand and having your
product created right in front of you in a day's time. You have
content, you have a marketing plan, you have pricing, and you
have structureall because you wrote a sales page.
The
Match Game, Finding the Perfect Business Venue for Your Passion
and Talent,
helps you define your passion, your target audience and your unique
offering.
But
ultimately, the sales page is where the rubber meets the road.
It is where you touch hearts and let them know how you can help
them. It's how you place yourself in service.
To
create a new product, write your sales page first!
