What to Change When You Can't
Change
I was thinking about having
babies the other day. I have four wonderful children. My third
child was a boy who weighed a little under 10 pounds and when
I was in labor with my fourth child, I realized I wasn't very
keen about going through the process again. But of course, I
had no choice.
And that's what I want to talk
about. What to change when you really have no choice.
My daughter had major, major
surgery this year, a ten-hour operation, and then a second one
to tighten up a leaky place. She had no choice but to go through
with it, so the only thing she could change was her attitude
and her beliefs. No one thought she would die, but hey, it's
major surgery. Everyone held high thoughts for her and my 100-person
practitioner body was praying for her. But she still had to
go through the process alone, alone with her faith actually.
Dying must be the same way.
It's a one-person show. It's going to happen, we can't avoid
it, so we better make peace with it.
I love the metaphysical philosophy
because it is so powerful in those circumstances where all we
need to do is change our way of thinking.
If I'm in a job I don't like,
I get to change me.
If I'm in a relationship that
is not nourishing, I get to change me.
If I'm not coming out even on
money, I get to change me.
And even when I'm facing what
seem like obstacles I cannot overcome or walk around, I get
to change me.
Make friends with your partner,
Spirit. Feel the presence of Source walking beside you step-by-step,
supporting, guiding, encouraging, prodding, loving you. Know
that you are not alone even when it looks like you are the only
game in town.
Immerse yourself in the safety
and love of the Universal Mind and take the next step in gratitude
and faith.
As Patrick Overton says,
When you come to the edge of
all the light you know,
and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing one of two things will happen:
There will be something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.
