I've been overweight for a lot of years.
And as a 74 year old woman who's having the best time of her life, I want to live
to 114 or more. But I also want to continue to be vibrant and active. And guess
what, staying overweight doesn't support "active." So I woke up one
morning and thought "I need a meal replacement plan," And of course,
a few hours later a friend I hadn't talked to in eight months called and she just
happened to have-a meal replacement weight loss plan." But
that's actually not what I want to write about. I want to write about how my awareness
shifted once I made that choice, once I committed to a goal of moving back down
to a weight I haven't seen for years. I started noticing different opportunities.
For instance,
in the down-time novels I was reading, older characters had stayed trim because
they valued how they looked. I got to look at who I was or was not pleasing and
knew that the most important person to please is me. One overweight character
got help from a coach and turned out to be a track star when he lost the weight.
The person who helped me get on the weight loss program coached me with food choices
and meal planning. Because of my new focus my motivation changed. I suddenly wanted
to walk the extra block, and do some stretching in the sun, and get out a line
dancing DVD to shake it up a bit. Once I started looking for what it feels like
to be slender and toned I saw more and more examples. You get the picture. Just
a little shift will open up new doors. For
instance in a recent self-examination and intention-making session I had with
myself, I realized that what I wanted in my life was balance - physical and financial.
The active weight loss was part of the physical and opening a new do-not-touch-it
savings account became part of the financial. What
area of your life do you want to change right now? How willing are you to do it?
Choose an area and have a conversation with yourself. Find an aspect that excites
you, one you are willing to pursue and begin. Then do it. That small shift, that
one decision will instantaneously open up new doors for you. And
don't go back to sleep. Keep noticing the new opportunities. Keep acting on the
new ideas. Keep choosing your ultimate goal. And let your consciousness supply
the "how to" part of it. A
very small shift in consciousness can produce amazing results. ©
